The City of Quitman is pleased to announce that Megan Whitworth has been named the new Executive Director of the Quitman Chamber of Commerce. Whitworth brings more than a decade of experience in communications, marketing, media, and chamber leadership to the role.

The Executive Director serves a key role in the community, leading the development of programming and outreach initiatives, promoting and supporting local businesses through marketing and events, and representing Quitman to regional partners and visitors. The position is a collaborative partnership between the City of Quitman, the Quitman Development Corporation, and the Quitman Chamber of Commerce, working together to strengthen and grow the community.

Whitworth most recently served as Communications Manager for the City of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, where she led strategic communications efforts and elevated community storytelling initiatives. Prior to her time in Arkansas, she served as Director of Marketing and Communications for the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce in Lufkin, Texas. She has also worked as editor of Charm East Texas and as an editor with Polk County Publishing Company.

For Whitworth, stepping into this role feels like both a new professional chapter and a meaningful return to her East Texas roots.

“I’ve spent much of my career telling the stories of communities I care about across Deep East Texas and Arkansas,” Whitworth said. “Now, I’m excited to bring that same focus to Quitman by highlighting our businesses, celebrating our people, and sharing what makes this place special.”

Her connection to the area runs generations deep. “My grandmother was born in Kelsey, just about 25 minutes from Quitman,” she shared. “Being here feels meaningful for my family. It feels like coming full circle.”

Whitworth is joined by her husband, Ryan Whitworth, and their six-year-old daughter, Hazel. Together, they are excited to become active members of the Quitman community.

“I believe strongly in small businesses and the role they play in shaping a town,” Whitworth said. “The Chamber’s philosophy of ‘Help Others Win’ means a lot to me. When our businesses succeed, our entire community succeeds. I’m honored to step into this role, and I’m ready to get to work supporting our businesses and strengthening this community.”

Whitworth will officially begin her role as Executive Director at the beginning of April.

With her background in communications and media relations, Whitworth looks forward to sharing the positive momentum taking place throughout Quitman and strengthening connections among local businesses and residents.
